What does a 1200 calorie day look like?

Your body uses calories each day to fuel itself. If you are attempting to lose weight, it’s important to take in fewer calories than you expend. For many men and women, eating 1,200 calories a day provides the body with less fuel than it uses to operate. Typically, this means a net loss in weight.

If you are eating the right foods, you will not feel deprived and starving- High protein, complex carbs, and a high fiber diet is key!

I will display a typical 1200 calorie day

Breakfast:

3 egg whites

½ cup of oatmeal

Snack:

Orange

10-12 Almonds

Lunch

4-6 oz of Fish on a salad with veggies

Snack

1 cup of celery

1 tablespoon of peanut butter

Dinner

4-6oz Grilled Chicken Breast

½ cup of couscous

1 cup of sautéed veggies

The principle behind weight loss is simple: you either have to burn more or eat fewer calories. It takes 3500 calories to lose 1 pound. To lose weight, you need to create an energy (or calorie) deficit by eating fewer calories, increasing the number of calories you burn through physical activity, or both. 1200 calorie meal plans are typically safe without deprivation of important nutrients. Always discuss a change in your diet or a new exercise program with your doctor.
